PfP Blog Pedal for Possibility

Partners for Possibility has been selected as a beneficiary of this year’s 99er Cycle Tour and Mountain Bike Challenge. Bring the whole family and come and spend the morning with us!

The 99er is the third largest road race in the Western Cape and a percentage of the profit that is generated is donated to education-based initiatives such as PfP.

To support our fundraising, you can either cycle or participate in the family Fun Walk. If you are unable to attend, but would still like to contribute to empowering a Principal to lead change in their school community, you can make a donation via our GivenGain page:

Join us on the 8th of February 2014 and help us make a difference in the lives of thousands of learners.

PfP Blog PfP at Oprah Magazine's O You! Conference

Stephanie Dawson-Cosser was amongst the fortunate Partners for Possibility team members who attended the Oprah Magazine O You! Conference at Gallagher Convention Centre, Johannesburg, on the 14th of October 2013.

This was the first ever O You! conference on the African continent.  Over 5 000 people were in attendance, the majority of which were women.

The Bookery, an organisation dedicated to building, stocking and staffing well-equipped school libraries across South Africa, has joined hands with Partners for Possibility to provide libraries to deserving schools who are part of PfP. This collaboration was launched at the Oprah Magazine O You! Conference.

PfP Blog The Bookery partners with PfP

Partners for Possibility have joined forces with The Bookery to install libraries in our under-resourced schools. Schools will be provided with a complete library, books that have been covered and catalogued and if necessary, a building and shelving to accommodate the library.

Sue Farrell, of The Bookery, approached PfP to work together and a wonderful partnership has ensued.  The partnership is open-ended with PfP but will last for one year with a specific school.  According to Stephanie Dawson-Cosser, who is one of our Learning Process Facilitators (LPF), teachers will also be trained in librarian skills and provided with mentoring to ensure that the library is being used properly.

The partnership commenced during October 2013 and is ongoing. The Bookery is a Cape Town based organisation and their vision is for every school in South Africa to have a fully-stocked, operational library.

PfP Blog Ray Sher Birthday Donation

Ray Sher, one of our Learning Process Facilitators (LPF), recently celebrated his 80th birthday. This was a birthday with a difference as Ray decided that he did not want any gifts, he wanted to raise funds for Symphonia for South Africa.

The party was on the 10th of August 2013 and all proceeds raised will go to the “Learning the Art of Community Building” workshops specifically.
“From my perspective, that is where the greatest need is, in our communities,” says Ray.

PfP Blog SAPA National Conference 7 - 9 October 2013

The South African Principals Association (SAPA) will be hosting their National Conference from 7-9 October 2013 at Emperors Palace in Gauteng. The overall goal of the conference is to bring together leaders and managers in the education sector in an effort to get Education on Track in South Africa.

SAPA has called on organisations across all sectors to sponsor as many school Principals and vice-Principals to attend the Conference as possible. This is to provide Principals and vice-Principals from under-performing and underprivileged schools with the opportunity to be at the Conference. Scholarships will then be awarded based on certain criteria and all recipients will be required to attend the set skills building track.
